The Historic Around the Bay Road Race
Located in Hamilton, Ontario, the Around the Bay Road Race is the oldest road race on the continent. First held in 1894, it predates the Boston Marathon by three years. The event follows a route around Hamilton’s natural harbour and has a historical record featuring Olympic gold medalists and international marathon champions.
The event offers both in-person and virtual participation options. Runners can choose from several race formats:
- 30k solo road race
- 30k relay
- 5k road race
The race weekend includes an expo and a pasta dinner for participants. Support services such as a 30k training program and fueling tips are provided by the organizers. Participants receive medals and recognition for their participation. The course includes landmarks such as the lift bridge and utilizes road closures to ensure a dedicated running path. Parking options and hotel arrangements are coordinated for those traveling to the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
