Flagstaff Extreme Big Pine Trail Runs - Fort Tuthill County Park
The event takes place on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Fort Tuthill County Park in Flagstaff, AZ. Multiple trail distances run through ponderosa pine forest above 7,000 feet and include sections that top out on a mesa with wide mountain views. Trails vary from narrow single track to wider, maintained forest paths.
Distances offered:
- 50K 31.0 miles
- 27K 16.8 miles
- 13K 8.56 miles
- 6K 4.12 miles
The 27K is two full loops and the 13K is one full loop; the 6K follows a partial Soldiers Trail loop. Aid stations are provided along the courses; spacing varies by distance (roughly every 4.0 to 7.3 miles) and includes water, electrolyte drink, snacks, and fruit. Runners should plan to carry at least one bottle of water. Pacers are allowed only for the final loop of the 50K. Crews and drop bags are permitted at the start/finish area only.
Race logistics include chip timing with results posted using gun time and live split tracking during the event. Courses are marked with orange plastic ribbons with black polka dots and laminated signs; blue and white checkerboard flagging indicates wrong way trails. Medical staff will be based at the start/finish headquarters. Awards are given to the top three men and women at each distance and all finishers receive a branded campfire mug or wooden Artworx finisher award.
Camping is available at the Aravaipa group campground near the start/finish; the camping area is tent only and opens Friday, June 19 at 2:00 PM. A nearby hotel room block is available at a property about one mile from Fort Tuthill. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
