Event overview
The Appomattox River Greenway 5k & 10k takes place on June 14, 2026, at the Appomattox River Greenway in Colonial Heights, VA (401 E Roslyn Rd). Points from the event count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k, and Back of the Pack series and toward the Spring Series. A virtual race option is available.

Course and on-course services
The course is a paved trail along the Appomattox River with minor elevation changes. Water stations are located at approximately mile markers 1.3 and 1.8 on the 5k course, and at approximately mile markers 1.3, 1.8, 3.1, 4.4 and 4.9 on the 10k course. Gatorade will be available at some water stations. Port-a-johns will be onsite.
Entries, equipment and results
The event is chip timed. Registered runners receive a finisher’s medal and a technical (Dri-Fit) event shirt; shirts are guaranteed for entries made before June 3. Race day registration and on-site packet pickup are available. Live results will be posted on Athlinks and final results with series points will be posted the Monday after the race; a QR code on race day provides immediate access to live results.
Awards and charity
Top three men and women overall receive awards. Age-group awards are given for 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+; overall top-3 finishers are not eligible for age-group awards. The race benefits Rikki’s Refuge. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
