The 1 Mile Family Challenge is a timed event that moves through the heart of River Heights and includes activity checkpoints that must be completed before continuing. Participants may go solo or in groups.

The 5K and 10K courses start and finish near Ryan’s Place at Heber Olson Park. The fully paved loop includes flat stretches and gentle hills and passes through Quinley’s Garden. The route is described as suitable for experienced runners, walkers, and strollers.

Registration includes a t-shirt guaranteed for registrations by August 1, race timing provided by Brooksee, post-race snacks, and entry in a raffle. The event is listed as completely free; last year’s reference fees were 5K $25 (student $20), 10K $35 (student $30), and 1 Mile group rates of $40 for four, $50 for five, and $60 for six.
