Event details

The Antelope Island Buffalo Run - Spring Classic is a trail race on Antelope Island in the Great Salt Lake. The spring 2026 event is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2026. Distances offered for the spring event are:

  • 25K
  • 50K
  • 50 Mile

The 100-mile distance has been held historically but will not be offered in the spring 2026 event; that distance is being moved to the Fall Classic. Registration for the 2026 Buffalo Run is expected to open around October 18, 2025 and will use RunSignUp. Published entry fees (early and later tiers) include: 50 Mile $210 / $240, 50K $150 / $175, 25K $120 / $130. Race fees do not include RunSignUp processing fees or taxes.

Course and logistics

Courses run on singletrack and dirt roads with open views of the Great Salt Lake and sections where wild bison may be present. Key course features and waypoints named in the course narratives include the marina start/finish area, Mountain View Trail, fence-side dirt road, Lakeside Trail, Bridger Bay campground, White Rock Bay trailhead, Elephant Head aid station, Split Rock Loop, and the Ranch.

Aid stations are stocked with standard ultra food and beverages; some stations on longer distances offer hot items through the night. Drop bag locations:

  • 25K: no drop bags.
  • 50K: start/finish, White Rock, Elephant Head.
  • 50/100 mile courses: Lower Frary, Ranch, White Rock Bay, Elephant Head, start/finish.

Crew and pacer rules: pacers are allowed for 50 Mile; pacers are not allowed for 25K and 50K. Crew access is limited to designated aid stations; some aid stations restrict crew parking (for example, Bridger Bay). Course markings include ribbons, flour arrows, signs, and reflective grade stakes. Race awards include prize money for top overall finishers and age-group awards; all finishers receive a locally made finisher mug. Medical and safety rules require dropping only at aid stations and checking in at aid stations for certain distances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
