Event Overview
The Anoka Gray Ghost is a themed running event held in downtown Anoka, Minnesota, scheduled for October 31. The event occurs in conjunction with the local Halloween celebrations and takes place on the same day as the Grand Day Parade. Participants pass through a course lined with an estimated 25,000 spectators during the first portion of the route.
Course and Distances
The event features two primary distances for attendees:
- 5K
- 1 Mile
The 5K is a chip-timed race. The first mile of the course follows the Grand Day Parade route, allowing participants to run past cheering crowds before transitioning onto residential streets for the remainder of the distance. The 1 Mile Fitness Walk finishes near the end of the parade route.
Participant Information
Participants in both distances are encouraged to wear costumes. The event includes a costume contest with awards presented at the conclusion of the activities. All runners and walkers have access to refreshments and can pick up event shirts at the end of the route. Age group awards are provided for competitive participants. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual results submission option is available throughout the month of October. The event benefits a local scholarship fund.
