Ann Arbor YMCA Y-TRI : Indoor Triathlon
The Ann Arbor YMCA is hosting an indoor, in-person triathlon on March 22, 2026 at 400 West Washington, Ann Arbor, MI 48103. The event is organized into timed segments and uses waves to limit participants.
The triathlon format consists of a timed 15-minute swim with total pool lengths tallied, a timed 25-minute indoor bike with total distance tallied, and a timed 20-minute treadmill run with total distance tallied. Athletes receive ten minutes of transition time between each segment. Each wave is limited to 12 participants and wave start times are selected during registration. Participants must be in the family pool area 10 minutes before their designated wave to receive a mandatory safety briefing; missing the briefing may result in being moved to a later wave if space is available.
There are two event groups: Collegiate Waves and Public Waves. Standard entry is listed at $55. Participants may order an event t-shirt for an additional fee; shirts ordered will be available for pickup on the day of the event. The scoring system multiplies pool lengths by 1 point, bike mileage by 10 points, and run mileage by 25 points to create a total score. Awards for top finishers in collegiate, public competitive, and public general categories are presented after the final waves in the YMCA gymnasium.
Spectator access is limited; spectators may view the swim from natatorium benches and may attend the award ceremony in the gymnasium where pancakes and refreshments will be available. The event may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather or pool mechanical issues. Participants will share lanes in the pool and circle swimming is not permitted.
