Event Format
The Ann Arbor YMCA Indoor Triathlon consists of three timed segments completed in order. The segments are:
- A 15-minute swim in a pool, with the total number of pool lengths recorded.
- A 25-minute indoor bike segment, with the total distance recorded.
- A 20-minute treadmill run, with the total distance recorded.
Athletes have 10 minutes of transition time between each segment.
Event Details
The event takes place at the Ann Arbor YMCA. There are two participant categories: Collegiate Waves and Public Waves. Each wave consists of 12 participants. Participants must be at least 8 years old; those aged 8 to 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the event. A mandatory safety briefing is held 10 minutes before each wave starts.
Scoring and Awards
Scores are calculated using a point system: one point per pool length swum, 10 points per mile biked, and 25 points per mile run. Awards are given to the top three participants in the Collegiate, Public Competitive, and Public General categories.
Post-Race and Facilities
A Recovery Zone in the gymnasium provides water, light snacks, a stretching area, and a photo backdrop. The event proceeds support the Ann Arbor YMCA's Annual Campaign and Open Arms Financial Assistance program. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
