Angeles Crest 100 Mile Endurance Run
The Angeles Crest 100 Mile Endurance Run is a point to point ultramarathon between Wrightwood and Altadena covering about 100.2 miles with approximately 21,610 feet of cumulative elevation gain. The course traverses San Gabriel Mountain terrain with elevations from about 1,135 to 9,300 feet and includes high alpine ridges, rocky trails, deep canyons around Mt Wilson, and steep climbs such as the Mt Wilson ascent.
First held in 1986, this is one of the original U.S. 100 mile races and one of a small number of point to point 100 milers. The 2026 route bypasses Chantry Flats because of damage from the Bobcat Fire and winter storms and approaches Altadena via the Kenyon/Devore Trail to the top of Mt Wilson, then continues through Idlehour, Sam Merrill, Millard and Loma Alta Park. The 2026 alignment also passes Shortcut, Redbox and Newcomb Saddle and uses portions of the Rincon-Redbox Road and the Gabrielino Trail.
Entry for 2026 uses a lottery. Lottery registration opened 9/19/25 and closed 9/29/25 with 210 spots available via the lottery; the entrants list was announced 10/03/25. Entrants must complete a 50+ mile qualifier between 01/01/25 and 9/3/26 and meet trail work requirements by 9/3/26. The SOLO division prohibits pacers and crew and division changes are not allowed after signup. The 2026 refund policy offered partial refunds of 50 percent up to May 1 and 25 percent up to September 1.
Awards include finisher plaques and shirts. Finishers under 33 hours receive an official finisher tech shirt and a bronze buckle. Time based buckles and special buckles are awarded for sub 24 hour and other finish windows, and special awards are presented for overall and consecutive finish milestones.
