Angela Taylor Memorial Run/Walk
The Angela Taylor Memorial Run/Walk is a community sports event held at Albert Park Lake in Melbourne. Established in 1989, the event commemorates Constable Angela Rose Taylor and all Victoria Police members who have died in the line of duty. The event village is located at Palms Lawn on Aughtie Drive.
Participants can choose from several categories:
- 5 km Walk
- 5 km Run
- 10 km Run
The event includes individual and team entries. Specialized categories are available for Police, Emergency Service, and Health Care teams, as well as Corporate and other groups. Runners in the 5 km and 10 km categories compete for the Angela Taylor Memorial Shield, which is awarded to the team with the fastest four aggregate times.
All participants receive electronic timing, a medal, and a digital certificate. Water is provided to all entrants. Age groups range from under 12 to 55 and over, with awards presented to winners in each age bracket. Registration packs can be collected on the morning of the event or at a designated location in Docklands on the Friday prior.
A virtual option is also available for those who wish to complete the distance at a location of their choosing. Proceeds from the event support the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation, which funds hospital services and community programs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
