Angela Taylor Memorial Run/Walk
The Angela Taylor Memorial Run/Walk is a community running and walking event held at Palms Lawn, Albert Park Lake. First staged in 1989, it welcomes teams and individual participants across a range of age groups and offers both in-person and virtual participation options.
The event commemorates a police constable who died after a 1986 car bomb outside the Russell Street police complex. It is held in honour of that constable and all Victoria Police members who lost their lives serving the community.
Race formats and categories include:
- 5km Walk
- 5km Run
- 10km Run (team and individual entries)
There are designated team categories for Police, Emergency Service and Health Care teams for the 5km and 10km events; the fastest four from each team contribute to a team aggregate time that determines a shield award retained for 12 months. Corporate and other teams are eligible for a 5km team award.
Age groups are Nipper (under 12), Junior (13–18), and Adult categories (19–38, 39–54, 55 and over). All participants are electronically timed and receive a medal; medals are also presented to winners in each age group and a certificate with race time is available online.
Entry fees are listed by distance and age: Adults 5km A$45, Adults 10km A$50, Under 18 A$15. Bottled water is included in entry fees and post-event offerings include a free BBQ, ice creams and dog treats from event partners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
