About the race
Among the Trees is a fall trail ultramarathon held in the Southern Kettle Moraine Forest on the Ice Age Trail near Dousman, Wisconsin. Runners choose between two distances and follow forest singletrack and trail connectors that use the Scuppernong green loop and the Ice Age Trail westward toward Emma Carlin and Whitewater. Distances - 100k, 6,493 elevation, out and back via Emma Carlin to Whitewater - 50k, 2,221 elevation, out and back to Emma Carlin via Scuppernong trails Both distances start at DJ Mackie Campground on the Scuppernong trails. The 50k turns around at Emma Carlin; the 100k continues past Emma Carlin to Whitewater and returns.
Aid stations are positioned along the course with the following stops listed for the 100k: HWY 67, Emma Carlin, HWY 12, Whitewater turnaround, HWY 12, Emma Carlin, HWY 67, and Finish. The 50k aid stops listed are HWY 67, Emma Carlin turnaround, HWY 67, and Finish. Typical aid station items include water, Tailwind, PB & Js, pickles, bananas, potato chips, and Sour Patch Kids.
Pacers may join 100k runners anytime at or after the Whitewater turnaround. Finishers may brand a wooden medal on site and optionally have their finishing time burned on the back. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
