Amherstburg Canada Day 5K 2026
The Amherstburg Canada Day 5K 2026 takes place in the historic downtown core of Amherstburg. This community event coincides with Canada Day festivities and offers several categories for different types of participants. routes start in front of Fort Malden Historic Park on Laird Ave and travel through the town's historic streets.
Available distances and categories include:
- 5 km run (chip-timed)
- 5 km walk
- 5 km wheel (for wheelchairs, walkers, or mobility scooters)
- 1 km kids dash
The event is timed using electronic chips provided by WRACE. For the 5 km route, participants head down Dalhousie Street to a turnaround point where local firefighters provide water spray to cool runners. The kids dash follows a 1 km out-and-back route towards the Waterfront Ice Cream store. Strollers and leashed dogs are permitted to participate in the event.
All registered participants receive a finisher medal. Adult participants who register by May 1 are also guaranteed an event shirt. This is a volunteer-run event where proceeds are donated to the Essex Region Conservation Foundation for local conservation projects.
