4th Annual Amblebrook 5K and Fun Walk
The 4th Annual Amblebrook 5K and Fun Walk is a community running event held in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania at 25 Livley Stream Way. The event includes a 3.1 Miles course and a separate fun walk. The listed registration fee for entry is $30.00.
Proceeds and donations from the event support Neighborhood Emergency Aid Response, known as NEAR. NEAR is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2022 to provide rapid emergency assistance within the Amblebrook community. As a Pennsylvania EMS certified Quick Response Service, NEAR is dispatched at the same time as the ambulance when 911 is called. NEAR volunteers often provide critical care until ambulance crews arrive.
NEAR works with Adams Regional Emergency Medical Services and holds certification through the Emergency Health Services Federation of Pennsylvania. Response teams include volunteers trained in basic life support, CPR and AED use, and first aid, and each team includes at least one member certified as an Emergency Medical Responder, EMT, or Paramedic. Beyond emergency response, NEAR offers CPR, AED, and first aid training for residents. Proceeds from the event also contribute to a designated endowment intended to sustain NEAR over time.
