Alive & Running Iowa events
Alive & Running Iowa includes a Friday night remembrance ceremony and a Saturday 5K run/walk in Dunkerton, Iowa. The remembrance ceremony on June 19 takes place at Dunkerton High School and features registration and packet pickup, food available for purchase, a slideshow memory wall, a luminary display, and rock decorating. Rock decorating is available at no additional cost. The memory wall slideshow plays on repeat once started; additions to the wall can be submitted via the event's memory wall form. Past ceremonies have received positive feedback.
The 5K run/walk on June 20 is organized as a non timed event. The starting line is located between Kwik Star and Dunkerton Gospel Hall, and the finish line is at Dunkerton Gospel Hall. Pre registration through June 6 offers a lower fee with a race shirt included. After that date a higher registration fee applies and a shirt is not guaranteed. All children not in strollers must be registered. Dogs are not permitted. Packet pickup is available at Dunkerton High School Commons on the Friday before the race and at Dunkerton Gospel Hall on the morning of the event. First place male and female winners receive a gift certificate to The Runner's Flat. Since the event is not timed, no age group awards are given. All participants are eligible for door prizes.
