Alive & Running Iowa Remembrance Ceremony and 5K Run/walk
Alive & Running Iowa includes a Friday Night Remembrance Ceremony and a non timed 5K run/walk held in Dunkerton, Iowa on June 19 and June 20, 2026. The remembrance event takes place at Dunkerton High School and features registration and packet pickup, a welcome, updates, guest speakers, and a slideshow with a luminary presentation.
Luminary bags are available through 5K registration for $5.00 each or on the day of the ceremony while supplies last. The memory wall slideshow will play on repeat once started until the last person leaves. Individuals may add a loved one to the memory wall and slideshow by completing the memory wall form.
The 5K run/walk starts between Kwik Star and Dunkerton Gospel Hall and finishes at Dunkerton Gospel Hall. It is organized as a non timed event. Pre registration through June 1, 2026 offers a $15 option that includes a shirt and a $12 shirt only option for those not participating in the 5K. After pre registration closes, the fee is $25 with no shirt guarantee. All children not in strollers must be registered and dogs are not allowed.
Packet pickup is available Friday, June 19 at Dunkerton High School Commons and Saturday, June 20 at Dunkerton Gospel Hall. First place male and female winners receive a gift certificate to The Runner's Flat; there are no age group awards. All race participants are eligible for door prizes.
