Albion Ascent Trail Race
Albion Ascent is a transit-friendly, chip-timed urban trail race in Hamilton, Ontario, held at King's Forest and nearby trails on September 27, 2026. The courses run through rivers, waterfalls, forests and fall-colour scenery and include concrete paths, dirt trails, foot-bridge river crossings and hill climbs on Albion.
Distances and formats:
- 5 km King's Forest Loop, concrete and dirt trails, foot bridge river crossing
- 10 km Albion and Bruce Trail, steep Albion climb, singletrack, two waterfalls
- 21 km The Full Ascent, King's Forest warm up, Albion climb, technical Bruce Trail
- Kids 1 km flat out-and-back across the bridge and Red Hill Valley Trail
- Kids 3 km flat out-and-back across the bridge and Red Hill Valley Trail
The start line is at Greenhill Bowl Park and Rosedale Park, Hamilton, ON L8K 4T9. Aid stations provide Xact energy bars, water, electrolyte beverage and surprise snacks; runners should bring a reusable cup or water bottle because cups are not provided. Each participant receives a Canadian made Albion Ascent toque printed locally.
The event is organized by Urban Trail Connections, a group of four trail runners based in Hamilton that aims to make trail running more accessible. The race has a 100% deferral policy if cancelled at least 30 days before the event, and bib transfers are allowed free up to four days before the race.
