Albion Ascent Trail Race
The Albion Ascent Trail Race is an urban trail running event located in Hamilton, Ontario. The course utilizes the King’s Forest and Red Hill Creek areas, featuring a combination of paved paths, dirt trails, and technical singletrack sections. The venue is transit-friendly, with public bus stops located near the start line at Greenhill Bowl Park.
Participants can choose from several distance options:
- 21 km: A technical out-and-back route on the Bruce Trail passing Felker’s Falls and Devil’s Punch Bowl.
- 10 km: A rugged route featuring the Albion climb, singletrack trails, and views of two waterfalls.
- 5 km: A non-technical introduction to trail running using concrete paths and dirt trails in King’s Forest.
- 1 km kids run: A relatively flat out-and-back course for children across a footbridge.
The event is cupless, requiring runners to bring their own reusable bottles or containers for hydration. Aid stations are positioned at the start/finish area and at the 3.5 km and 8 km marks, providing water, electrolyte drinks, and snacks.
All registered runners receive a Canadian-made toque. Medals are available as an optional add-on to keep registration fees low and reduce the environmental footprint. Parking is available at Greenhill Bowl Park and Rosedale Park. Race kit pickup is available on the Friday before the race at a local shop or on-site on the morning of the event.
