About the race
Albion Ascent Trail Race is a transit friendly, chip timed urban trail event in Hamilton, Ontario on September 27, 2026. The course network passes rivers, waterfalls, forests and fall colours and uses local trails including King's Forest and sections of the Bruce Trail.
Distances offered include:
- 5 km: King's Forest Loop, concrete and dirt trails, footbridge river crossing, $50
- 10 km: Albion and Bruce Trail, steep climb and singletrack, pass waterfalls and creek twice, $65
- 21 km: The Full Ascent, warm up in King's Forest then technical Bruce Trail singletrack, $90
- Kids 1 km and 3 km: flat out and back across the bridge along Red Hill Valley Trail, $15 and $20
The start line location is Greenhill Bowl Park and Rosedale Park, Hamilton ON. Aid stations supply Xact energy bars, water, an electrolyte beverage and surprise snacks; participants must bring a reusable cup or water bottle. Each entrant receives a Canadian made toque printed locally. Event rules include a leave no trace policy and a request to thank volunteers. The event is organized by Urban Trail Connectsions, a group of four trail runners based in Hamilton. The race offers a 100 percent deferral if cancelled at least 30 days before the event and allows free bib transfers up to four days before the race.
