Albion Ascent Trail Race
Albion Ascent is an urban trail race in Hamilton centered on King's Forest and the Red Hill Valley. The event is transit-friendly and chip-timed. Course surfaces include paved paths, dirt trails and technical singletrack, and the routes pass rivers, forests and waterfalls such as Felker's Falls and Devil's Punch Bowl.
Distances offered:
- 21K: Out-and-back on Bruce Trail, technical singletrack, waterfalls on route.
- 10K: Starts in King's Forest, includes Albion climb and Bruce Trail singletrack.
- 5K: Concrete and dirt paths, foot bridge crossing, non-technical route.
- 3km kids run: Relatively flat out-and-back across the bridge, kids medal included.
- 1km kids run: Relatively flat out-and-back across the bridge, kids medal included.
Aid stations provide Xact energy bars, water, electrolyte beverage and surprise snacks; participants must bring a reusable cup or water bottle because the event is cupless. Each runner receives a Canadian made toque; medals are sold as an optional add-on to help keep entry fees and environmental impact lower.
Parking is available at Greenhill Bowl Park and Rosedale Park and there is a public transit option via the Greenhill/Cochrane bus stop. The organizer offers a 100% deferral if cancellation occurs at least 30 days before the event, and bib transfers are allowed up to four days before the race.
