Event Overview
The Albany Community Triathlon is a super sprint multisport event held in Albany, California. Established in 2008, the triathlon is organized by volunteers and serves as a fundraiser for Albany Middle School and Albany High School athletics and programs. The event is designed for individual competitors as well as relay teams of two to three athletes.
Course details
The competition takes place at the Albany Aquatics Center and Memorial Park. Participants can choose between two different distances based on age and preference:
- Main Course (Ages 9+): Includes a 400m pool swim (17 lengths), a 10 km bicycle ride (12 laps), and a 2.5 km run (3 laps).
- Short Course (Ages 6+): Includes a 70m pool swim (3 lengths), a 2.5 km bike (3 laps), and a 1 km run (1 lap).
The swimming portion of the event is conducted in a 25-yard outdoor pool where participants use their own split lanes. The cycling and running segments are held on the streets and sidewalks surrounding Albany High School and Memorial Park. Both adults and children are permitted to compete in either the main or the short course.
