Albany Community Triathlon
The Albany Community Triathlon is a volunteer-run super sprint triathlon held in Albany, California. It is organized as a community event that raises funds for Albany Middle School and Albany High School athletics and programs. The event began in 2008 and has raised over $100,000 since then.
The race is scheduled in late September or early October and uses the Albany Aquatics Center and Memorial Park for course venues. Competitors may enter as individuals or as relay teams of two to three athletes. The event welcomes both adults and children with separate course options.
Main course distances for ages nine and up:
- 400 m swim 17 lengths in the 25y outdoor pool, own split lane
- 10 km bike 12 laps on the street around Albany High and Memorial Park
- 2.5 km run 3 laps on the sidewalk around Albany High and Memorial Park
Short course distances for ages six and up:
- 70 m swim 3 lengths in the 25y outdoor pool, own split lane
- 2.5 km bike 3 laps around the block
- 1 km run 1 lap around the park
