Alabama Law Enforcement Torch Run
The Alabama Law Enforcement Torch Run gathers law enforcement agencies from Lee County to carry the Flame of Hope in support of Special Olympics Alabama. The event is held at Wrights Mill Road Elementary in Auburn and involves local agencies including the Auburn Police Department, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Opelika Police Department.
The run supports year-round sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Programs aim to develop physical fitness, confidence, and friendships while providing opportunities to compete at state, national, and international events. Alabama athletes have represented the state at recent national and world competitions and are set to participate in the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minneapolis.
Event logistics published by the organizer include two course options, registration fee levels for regular and late registration, online shirt registration deadlines, packet pickup at an Auburn police location and at the elementary school on event day, one water stop at about 1.5 miles, 5K awards for the top three overall male and female finishers, parking at nearby lots and playground areas, and a no-refund policy. Participants are asked to wear the event green Torch Run shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
