FirstEnergy Akron Marathon, Half Marathon & Team Relay
The FirstEnergy Akron Marathon, Half Marathon, and Team Relay is the primary event of the Akron Marathon Race Series. The 2026 race day is scheduled for September 26, 2026 in downtown Akron and finishes at the Blue Line at Lock 3.
Course routing begins and ends in downtown Akron and travels through Summit Metro Parks and several city neighborhoods. The route passes landmarks and locations such as the Akron Art Museum, The University of Akron, Firestone Park, the Towpath Trail, Sand Run Parkway, Stan Hywet Estate, and Highland Square. Course maps and route files are provided in PDF, Google Maps, and Garmin formats. Individual relay legs are defined for team entries.
Event elements associated with the race series include a Health & Fitness Expo, packet pickup, a Kids Fun Run, awards, and volunteer opportunities. Supporting materials available for participants and spectators include course descriptions, rules and policies, a participant and spectator guide, and race results. The half marathon in 2026 marks the 20th year of that distance within the series.
