Event Overview
The FirstEnergy Akron Marathon, Half Marathon, and Team Relay is the final event of the Akron Marathon Race Series. Located in downtown Akron, Ohio, this competition serves as a celebration of endurance and community health. Participants pass through a variety of urban and natural settings, including historic landmarks and scenic parks.
The course functions as a foot-tour of the city. Notable locations along the route include the Akron Art Museum, The University of Akron, and Firestone Park. The path also leads through the Summit Metro Parks, featuring the Towpath Trail and Sand Run Parkway. Other points of interest on the route include the Stan Hywet Estate and Highland Square.
Race Options
The event provides several participation formats for runners and walkers:
- Marathon: A full distance course starting and ending in downtown Akron.
- Half Marathon: A long-distance race celebrating over 20 years of participation.
- Team Relay: A collaborative option for groups to complete the marathon distance together.
- Kids Fun Run: A non-competitive event designed specifically for children.
All races conclude at the Blue Line finish located at Lock 3. In addition to the main races, the event includes a Health and Fitness Expo where participants can pick up their packets.
