About the race
The Air Line Trail Ghost Run is the 21st annual event organized by the Parks & Recreation Departments of Hebron, Colchester, and East Hampton in collaboration with the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. It takes place in Hebron, Connecticut on November 7, 2026, and offers both an individual half marathon and a relay option.

The certified half marathon covers 13.1 miles and follows the historic Air Line Trail for roughly 11 miles through rural Connecticut forests and small towns. The trail surface is mostly flat and consists of packed stone, gravel, and earthen material. The race begins at Hebron Elementary School on Route 85, proceeds south on Route 85 for about 2 miles, then picks up the Air Line Trail behind Juliano’s Pools and continues through Colchester into East Hampton. From the trail head runners proceed to Watrous Street, then Summit Street, and finish at Center Elementary School.
Relay legs are divided as follows: start to Grayville Road in Hebron (3.6 miles), Grayville Road to River Road Overpass in Colchester (4.2 miles), and River Road Overpass to Center School in East Hampton (5.3 miles). Shuttle buses operate to transport runners between Hebron Elementary School, relay exchange locations, and Center School. Early bib pickup is scheduled for Friday, November 6 at the Burnt Hill Park Office Building, and preregistration is required; registration closes November 6.
