Event Information
The Airdrie Backyard Ultra takes place in Airdrie, Alberta. The challenge is to complete a 6.706 km loop every hour. Each loop must be finished within 60 minutes. Each new lap starts precisely on the hour.
The course starts and finishes in the grandstands of Ed Eggerer Athletic Park. From there, it transitions onto a paved pathway around East Lake and flows through the city's neighbourhoods.
Basic aid (water, electrolytes, snacks) is available at the start/finish area each loop. Crews may set up in the designated infield area between loops. Pacers are not allowed on the course. Spectators can cheer from the grandstands.
The adjacent Genesis Place complex is accessible for crews and spectators. Parking is available on-site.
Mandatory Gear and Conditions
Mandatory gear includes hydration, nutrition, extra clothes, and gear for night-time conditions (headlamp, jacket, etc.). The event runs rain or shine. Only extreme weather (such as lightning) may pause the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
