Airdrie Backyard Ultra : event overview
Airdrie Backyard Ultra takes place on July 17, 2026 at Ed Eggerer Athletic Park in Airdrie, Alberta. The event uses a loop format: each loop is 6.706 km and participants must begin each new loop on the hour and complete it within 60 minutes to continue.
The course starts and finishes at the stadium grandstands, follows a paved pathway around East Lake, and goes through local neighbourhoods. The grandstands provide a visible spot for spectators. Participants and crews have access to amenities at the adjacent Genesis Place, and parking is available at Genesis Place and nearby lots.
A basic aid station is located at the start/finish area for each loop offering water, electrolytes, and snacks. Crews may set up in the designated infield between loops. Pacers are not allowed on the course.
Additional practical details: registration opens in November 2025 and closes July 15, 2026. Recommended mandatory gear includes hydration, nutrition, extra clothing, and items for evening running such as a headlamp and jacket.
