Aidan J. Heart-Safe Communities 5K
The event takes place on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Struble Trail beginning at The Ponds / Victims Memorial Park, Pennsylvania Avenue, Downingtown, PA. It offers both in person and virtual participation and includes multiple race options and kids races on grass.
The event supports community efforts in CPR and AED training, placement of AEDs, young heart screening, and school cardiac safety planning. Fundraising is integrated into the event; participants may create personal or team fundraising pages and there are awards for top fundraisers.
Race operations note that the 5K is chip timed by Bryn Mawr Race Management and 1 Mile walkers receive non chip race bibs. A virtual participation window runs from Saturday, September 26 through Sunday, October 4. Kids races are for ages 2 to 11 and are organized by age group with finisher medals for every child.
Awards include a cash prize for top overall 5K finishers, place medals for age group winners, and awards for top fundraising individual and team. Parking is available in nearby municipal lots near Planet Fitness or Kerr Park with a short walk to the Struble trailhead. For safety, dogs are not permitted on the trail; strollers are allowed in the 1 Mile Family Walk and are not permitted in the 5K. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
