AU Wellness Center 5k Glow Run-Walk
The After Dark Dash is a nighttime 5k event held in Alfred, New York, as part of the annual Hot Dog Day celebration. Organized by the Alfred University Wellness Center, the event serves as a fundraiser with proceeds benefiting colon cancer research and Allegany County Cancer Services. The course begins and ends at the Village Bandstand located on the front lawn of Alfred University.
Participants are encouraged to wear bright neon and glow-themed clothing. The event organizers provide glow paint, glow sticks, and other accessories for attendees to use before the start. An award is presented for the best glow attire during a scheduled contest prior to the race.

This is categorized as a non-competitive fun run and walk. While the first overall finisher receives a prize, official times are not recorded for the general field of participants. The course includes one water station, and complimentary bottled water and light snacks are provided to participants through local sponsors.
The registration is open to students from K-12, Alfred University, and Alfred State, as well as general community members. Pets are permitted to attend under the responsibility of their owners. The Alfred University Wellness Center, which hosts the event, provides medical and health education services to the campus community and selects a different health-related cause for the race proceeds each year.
