Adventure Awaits 5k
The Adventure Awaits 5k is a multi-event running weekend in late August 2026. Event offerings listed include:
- 5K Run
- Virtual 5K Run
- Kids Run (about 400 meters)
The event is organized by Scouting America - Great Falls Council. The 5K is chip-timed by Falcon Race Timing. The kids fun run is for ages 2-10 and every participating child receives a prize.
Location and course
Locations listed for the event include Riverfront Park, 100 Riverfront Park Rd., Sayre, PA 18840, and Round Top Park, 2555 Round Top Road, Athens, PA 18810. The course is described as a mix of trail and road. Restrooms are available and there will be at least one water stop staffed by local Scouts.
Registration, packet pickup and awards
Registration opens January 1, 2026. Early registration fee for the 5K and virtual 5K is listed as $25; registration at packet pickup is $30. The Kids Run is free. Cash or checks are accepted at the listed packet pickup times. Prerace packet pickup is scheduled for the evening before the main event; day-of packet pickup is also provided.
An awards ceremony follows the race with age group awards for men and women in these groups: under 12, 13-17, 18-29, 23-30, 30-39, 40-49, 50-64, and 65+. The overall top man and top woman receive a special prize. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
