AdironDUCK Trail Run
The AdironDUCK Trail Run is a walk, run, or ride event held at the Oswegatchie Educational Center on the Long Pond Loop near Croghan, New York. The main course is approximately 5K (3.71 miles) around the largest pond and uses the Long Pond Loop.
The route includes at least six different trail surfaces: double-wide truck trails, pavement, dirt roads, singletrack, and a suspension bridge. Participants can expect variable conditions such as mud puddles, and depending on the year there may be ice, snow, boulders, or wildlife on the course. Volunteers are stationed at turning points and a water station is located just before the halfway mark. Showers are available in the Berkey Bath House.
The event is timer-free and t-shirt-free. A free pancake breakfast is provided with registration. Organizers note variable weather across years and publish participant counts for past editions, showing turnout that has ranged from under 20 to nearly two hundred participants in different years. Organizers also request RSVPs online to plan the recovery tent and trail volunteers.
