Achilles Hope & Possibility 4M Presented by TD
The Achilles Hope & Possibility 4M Presented by TD is the 24th annual four mile road race in Central Park, Manhattan. The event highlights disability inclusion and commemorates the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. It also serves as a precursor to Disability Pride Month. The event is presented by TD and organized with New York Road Runners and Achilles International.
The course begins on East Drive near East 68th Street, continues north with a left onto the 102nd Street Cross Drive, then a left onto West Drive and finishes near West 69th Street. The race is a 9+1 program qualifier, is scored, and finisher medals are awarded. Race day amenities include water and Gatorade on course, and water, apples, pretzels and Gatorade after the finish.
Accessibility and adaptive competition are emphasized. Top finisher awards will be given in AWD categories such as handcycle, pushrim wheelchair, ambulatory AWD, duo teams, lower limb loss ambulatory, mobility impaired, and visually impaired. Duo Teams pair a Pusher and a non ambulatory Pushee and must meet age and safety requirements including a tethered racing wheelchair and continuous control by the Pusher.
Kids races for ages 2 to 11 are offered with Rising NYRR race day activities; registration is required and free. Bib pickup is available at multiple locations including the NYRR RUNCENTER, New Balance Flatiron, TD One Vanderbilt, and Race Day Central. A bag check is provided using clear bags no larger than 17" wide by 20" high by 7" deep. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
