Achilles Hope & Possibility 4M Presented by TD
The Achilles Hope & Possibility 4M Presented by TD is the 24th annual race celebrating disability inclusion. The event takes place in Central Park near the Naumburg Bandshell at West 72nd Street in Manhattan and covers a distance of 4 Miles. It is a scored race and part of the NYRR 9+1 program.
The event commemorates the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act and serves as a precursor to Disability Pride Month. Achilles International, an organization founded in 1983, supports adaptive running and endurance sports for youth, adults, and veterans with disabilities; the race supports that mission. Title and presenting partners include Achilles International and TD, with New Balance listed as a partner.
Adaptive and wheelchair categories receive top finisher awards across multiple classifications, including handcycle, pushrim wheelchair, ambulatory AWD, duo teams, lower limb loss, mobility impaired, and visually impaired athletes. Duo Teams pair a Pusher and a non-ambulatory Pushee in a customized racing wheelchair and must meet specific age and safety requirements; the Pusher must be at least 18 and the Pushee at least 8.
Kids races for ages 2 to 11 are offered free with registration and are run in partnership with Rising NYRR. NYRR provides accessibility resources, race number pickup at the NYRR RunCenter, runner tracking via the NYRR app, and information on fee assistance through the NYRR Race Free program.
