Abe's Amble 10K and 5K
Abe's Amble is a road race held on the last day of the Illinois State Fair in August at the Illinois State Fairgrounds Grandstand in Springfield, Illinois. The event offers both in-person and virtual participation options.
Distances
- 10K USATF certified course through the fairgrounds Lincoln Park and Oak Ridge Cemetery
- 5K certified 5K course option
The 10K route passes through the fairgrounds, Lincoln Park, and Oak Ridge Cemetery before returning to the finish area. Race packets are available for pickup the day before the race at Lincoln Park Pavilion; limited packet pickup is available on race morning at the fairgrounds. Registrations received by July 12, 2026 are guaranteed a race shirt while supplies last.
At the finish there will be bottled water bananas and other refreshments. Medals are provided at the finish line for both the 10K and the 5K. Live results will stream online during the event and participants who opted in during registration will receive a text message with their time after finishing.
Award categories for the 10K include Top Overall male and female Top Masters male and female and Top 3 male and female in each age group (14 and under then 15-19 20-24 up to 80+). The 5K has Top Overall awards and Top 3 in the same age group structure.
