Abacela Wine Run 5k

The event is a chip timed 5k run and walk held at Abacela Winery, 12500 Lookingglass Rd, Roseburg, OR. The course starts and finishes at the winery and follows a scenic tour through the vineyards with cross country style terrain and some areas of uneven footing.

Registration includes a super soft ring spun cotton T shirt, a shatterproof collapsible wine glass, a finisher medal, a race bib with chip timing, online results, and a pour of wine at the finish. Packet pickup is race day only and opens one hour before the event.

The race is open to walkers and runners. Running strollers are not recommended because of uneven ground; regular strollers are allowed but not recommended and children in strollers can participate for free without registration. Minors can participate with a discounted registration that includes a shirt, medal and bib; minors do not receive a wine glass or a glass of wine. Dogs are not allowed on site due to USDA restrictions.

The charity partner is United Community Action Network Food Bank. In Douglas County about one in four children faces food insecurity and roughly 18,820 people are food insecure, representing about 16.8 percent of the population. UCAN provides emergency food distribution through 15 food pantries and six community kitchens and shelters, operates a mobile pantry called the Outpost, distributes free produce at ODHS offices in summer and fall, and offers nutrition education and advocacy.

Age group awards are given to the top three finishers in each ten year category, including 19 and under, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, 70 to 79, and 80 and over. Competitive runners should start with the first group to be eligible for age group awards; winners must collect awards on the day of the event.
