AAPI New Jersey Color Run
The AAPI New Jersey Color Run is an annual community event held in Brookdale Park, situated in Bloomfield, New Jersey. This fifth annual edition celebrates the cultural traditions of Holi and Songkran. Holi is a Hindu festival marking the arrival of spring through the throwing of colored powder, while Songkran is the Thai New Year water festival symbolizing renewal.
Participants can choose from two main distances:
- 5k Color Run
- 1 Mile Fun Run
The course winds through the park, and runners are splashed with colorful powder at various points. For those who wish to avoid some of the powder, a detour is available near the finish line. Registration is limited to 1,500 participants. The event is open to families and permits strollers, with the request that they start at the back of the field for safety. Children under the age of two do not require registration.
The event takes place rain or shine. Proceeds support the mission of AAPI New Jersey to advocate for rights, representation, and education regarding Asian American and Pacific Islander culture and history. Please note that pets are not permitted at this event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
