Event Overview
The Aabenraa Bjergmarathon takes place in the town of Aabenraa, Denmark, leading participants through the hills and nature surrounding the city. The course incorporates a mix of forest scenery, coastal views, and city streets, finishing in the historic town center with its old houses and town square. The routes are characterized by significant elevation changes, particularly on the longer distances.
A variety of distances are available for both running and walking participants:
- 42.2 km marathon
- 21.1 km half-marathon
- 10 km
- 5 km
- 1 Mile family run
- 1500 m children's run (ages 8-10)
- 500 m children's run (up to age 7)
Participant Services and Facilities
Water and nutrition stations are located along the route and at the finish line. The event center at the town square provides access to food and beverage vendors. Facilities such as baggage storage and toilets are situated in the finish area.
Parking, changing rooms, and showers are available at Arena Aabenraa, located approximately 800 meters from the start and finish area. Additional parking is available at IBC, about 400 meters from the site. All finishers receive a medal, and there is an option to have the date and name engraved for a fee.
Children's Events
The children's runs are free of charge but require registration. These races utilize a red carpet at the finish line and include a front runner and route guides to assist the young participants.
