A Sundae In July 5K Run/Walk
A Sundae In July is a community running event held in Bloomingdale, Illinois, with proceeds benefiting the Children's Dyslexia Center of Metropolitan Chicago. The event includes a 5K run and walk plus a Youth Fun Run for young children. The race site is the Scottish Rite Valley at 383 E. Lake Street.
Pre race packet pick up is offered the week before at Dick Pond Athletics in Carol Stream. Race day packet pick up and registration take place at the Scottish Rite Valley on the day of the event. Online registration remains open until race morning.
All 5K participants receive a technical shirt and a finisher medal. Awards are given to the top overall male and female and to first through third place finishers in multiple age categories: 10 and under; 11 to 14; 15 to 19; 20 to 29; 30 to 39; 40 to 49; 50 to 59; 60 to 69; and 70 and over. The 5K course is certified. Dogs are not allowed due to insurance restrictions; jogging strollers are permitted and should stay near the back of the field. There is ample parking at the race site.
The event also features a postrace picnic with food options and a sundae bar. Fundraising activity is part of the event and supports the center s mission to provide multisensory reading and written language instruction for children with dyslexia.
