A Run To Remember 5K
A Run To Remember is a community athletic event held at Valley Falls State Park in Fairmont, West Virginia. The event serves as a fundraiser with all profits donated directly to the Alzheimer's Association. Participants can choose between two main categories:
- 5K Run (chip-timed)
- 5K Walk
The course is open to various participation styles including walkers and joggers. For the competitive segments, awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers. Additionally, the event recognizes the top three male and female finishers within specific age brackets: 15 and under, 16-26, 27-37, 38-48, 49-60, and 60 and older. Participants who select "prefer not to say" regarding gender during registration are ineligible for placement awards.
Those who complete their registration by May 20th receive a complementary race t-shirt. Registration after this date results in a fee increase, and event shirts become available for purchase on the day of the race rather than being included. The event provides an opportunity for community members touched by Alzheimer's disease to gather and support research and care through physical activity.
