Event overview

A Most Excellent Race is the Achievement Centers for Children’s 36th annual event, held on June 28, 2026, at Camp Cheerful in Strongsville, Ohio. The event includes in-person and virtual options, with races and walks of several distances. The Camp Cheerful Classic is a noncompetitive dash/walk on the camp grounds that is free for ACC client participants. New for 2026: registrations made after June 14 are not guaranteed a shirt and sizes will be subject to availability on event day. Virtual participants can complete the 5K or 10K from any location and are not eligible for awards. T-shirts must be picked up at the race or arranged for pick up at an ACC site after the event.

Logistics and services

Check-in opens in the morning at the registration tent. Parking is located at the Best Western Hotel on Royalton Road, with shuttle buses to Camp Cheerful; handicapped parking is available at Camp Cheerful. The camp entrance uses a single-lane bridge and participants should follow volunteer directions. Only qualified service animals are permitted. Strollers are allowed on the course. Weather permitting, limited family activities will include a coloring station, crafts, and athletic balls for field play. Water and snacks will be provided on site. Awards will be given at the awards tent to the top three overall male and female finishers and top three in each age group: 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 & over.
