A Healthy KSU 3K & Health Fair
DMTL Nonprofit Organization hosts the annual A Healthy KSU 3K and Health Fair on the Kentucky State University campus in Frankfort, Kentucky. The event pairs a community 3K run with a health fair focused on reducing health disparities among KSU students, alumni, and the wider Frankfort community and promoting health equity.
DMTL is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that centers on health equity and mentorship and collaborates with Kentucky State University, the KSU National Alumni Association, the City of Frankfort, local hospitals, and community organizations. Previous editions have raised funds for cancer care and research, awarded student scholarships, and offered health screenings and education campaigns to the community.
The health fair offers free health screenings, free food, music, giveaways, and activities alongside community and campus organization displays, performances, and contests. General registration carries a fee of $25.00; student registration is free but requires a valid student ID at packet pickup.
The event highlights elevated health risks affecting African American communities, including heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, prostate cancer, triple negative breast cancer, maternal and infant health concerns, asthma, stroke, and obesity, and it emphasizes access to medical care and preventive resources. The program brings together alumni, family, and community partners to share information, resources, and services intended to support long term health outcomes.
