9.11 Remembrance Run Walk Ruck - Weber City
The 9.11 Remembrance Run Walk Ruck is a community memorial event on 9/5/2026 in Weber City, Virginia. The event starts and finishes at Weber City Elementary and covers 3.43 miles. Participants may run, walk, or ruck using a weighted vest, a hiking pack, or full firefighting gear.
Proceeds support the Weber City Fire Department. Registration fees and additional donations go directly to the department’s charitable account to fund training and certification, gear upgrades, and other departmental expenses. There is a cap of 150 participants and the registration fee is $35.00. T-shirts are included with registration and a unique finisher medal will be given to all participants. First overall female and male will be recognized and receive a prize provided by a sponsor.
The course consists of several loops on nearby residential streets, with participants passing the same aid station multiple times. The course is not currently closed to residential traffic; emergency vehicles will be positioned at main entry points and traffic will be advised to slow down. Primary parking is at Gateway Baptist, about a 0.25 mile walk to the start. Elementary school lots may be used for volunteer and handicap parking but vehicles parked there should remain until the event is finished to keep traffic off the course.
Event announcements will include a speaker from Bristol’s 9/11 Stair Climb and a flag-raising ceremony performed by Dobyns-Bennett JROTC. Safety notes advise leaving one earbud out or using bone conduction headphones and keeping right on narrow sidewalks to allow passing on the left. A map and additional event information will be posted prior to the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
