9.11 Remembrance Run - Walk - Ruck - Weber City
This community memorial event in Weber City features a 3.43 mile run, walk, or ruck that honors the victims of 9/11. The distance of 3.43 miles reflects the 343 New York City Fire Department lives lost on 9/11/2001. The program includes a guest speaker, announcements, and a flag raising ceremony.
Proceeds from registration go to the Weber City Fire Department to support training and certification costs, gear upgrades, and other expenses for the town’s all-volunteer fire organization. Registration carries a fee of $35 and the field is capped at 150 participants. All registrants receive a unique finisher medal; first place overall female and male will be recognized.
Participants may ruck with a weighted vest, a hiking pack, or full firefighting gear. The course loops several times on nearby residential streets and passes the same aid station multiple times. As of now the course will not be closed to residential traffic; emergency vehicles will be positioned at main entry points and traffic will be advised to drive slowly and watch for participants. Headphones are permitted but participants are asked to leave one earbud out or use bone conduction headphones. Groups and strollers should keep right on narrow sidewalk sections to allow passing.
Primary parking is at Gateway Baptist (155 Shady Elm Lane), about a 0.25 mile walk to the start area. Packet pick-up is available the day before at The Yard Strength and Training and on event day at Weber City Elementary School. The start and finish are at Weber City Elementary School.
