9.11 Remembrance Run Walk Ruck: Weber City
This community memorial event takes place on September 4, 2027, with start and finish at Weber City Elementary. Participants may run, walk, or ruck the course at their chosen pace; rucking may include a weighted vest, a hiking pack, or full firefighting gear. The course distance is 3.43 miles, chosen to reflect the number 343 from New York City Fire Department losses on 9/11/2001. The event includes a remembrance program with a speaker from Bristol's 9/11 Stair Climb and a flag raising performed by Dobyns-Bennett JROTC.
Proceeds go to the Weber City Fire Department charitable account to support training and certification costs, gear upgrades, and other department expenses. All registration fees and additional donations collected for the event are directed to that account.
Course and logistics notes: the route loops several times on nearby residential streets and passes the same aid station multiple times. Primary parking is at Gateway Baptist Church (155 Shady Elm Lane), about a 0.25 mile walk to the start. Volunteer and handicap parking may use the elementary school lots but vehicles parked there should remain until the event is finished to help keep traffic off the course. The course may not be closed to residential traffic; emergency vehicles will be positioned at main entry points and drivers will be advised to use caution. Headphone users are asked to keep one earbud out or use bone conduction devices, and groups or strollers should keep right where sidewalk space is narrow.
Packet pick-up will be available before the event at The Yard Strength and Training (145 Warehouse St) and on event day at Weber City Elementary. There is a participant cap of 150. Race day payments are cash only; online registration is available through race day. T-shirts are included with registration; a unique finisher medal will be given to all participants. First overall male and female finishers will be recognized and a dash cam prize is provided by Thrifty Dudez.
