9.11 Remembrance Run-Walk-Ruck - Weber City
The event is a community remembrance run, walk, and ruck held in Weber City on 9/5/26. Participants will complete a course that loops several times on nearby residential streets, beginning and ending at Weber City Elementary at 322 Jennings St, Weber City, VA 24290.
The single course distance is 3.43 miles, chosen to honor the 343 New York City Fire Department lives lost on 9/11/2001. Rucking is permitted with a weighted vest, hiking pack, or full firefighting gear. All participants receive a unique finisher medal and the overall first-place male and female are recognized.
This event is a fundraiser for the Weber City Fire Department, a 100% volunteer organization. Registration proceeds and any added donations go directly to the department's charitable account to support training costs and gear upgrades. Registration is capped at 150 participants; race-day registration may be available if there are no-shows.
Primary parking is at Gateway Baptist (set GPS for 155 Shady Elm Lane), about a 0.25 mile walk to the start. Volunteer and handicap parking may use the elementary school lots but vehicles parked there should remain until the event finishes to avoid traffic on the course. The course may not be closed to residential traffic; emergency vehicles will be positioned at main entry points. A course map will be posted prior to the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
