6 sjöar - Uppsala Marathon
6 sjöar is a running event located at Fjällnora friluftsgård in Uppsala, Sweden. The event is characterized by its natural setting and environmental focus, utilizing paths and roads that wind around several local lakes. A significant portion of the participants typically travel from abroad to take part in the races.
The event offers several distances to accommodate different preferences:
- 5 km: A course following forest paths around Lake Ramsen.
- 10 km: A route that circles Lake Trehörningen.
- 21 km (Half Marathon): A course covering the area around four lakes.
- 42 km (Marathon): The longest distance, which takes runners around all six lakes.
As part of its environmental initiative, the event is organized to minimize waste. Single-use cups are avoided; instead, participants are encouraged to bring their own bottles or use provided reusable silicone cups. The organizers provide free shuttle buses from Uppsala Resecentrum that run on fossil-free fuel.
Practical facilities at the site include four saunas available for runners. Rather than traditional showers, participants are offered the opportunity to swim in the lake after finishing their race. While participation medals or shirts are not automatically included to reduce environmental impact, official t-shirts are available for purchase. It is also possible to participate in the event with a dog. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
