5Katie

5Katie is a trail running and walking event held on the Meeks Mountain Trails at Hurricane City Park in Hurricane, West Virginia. The event includes trail courses and an untimed walk, with proceeds benefiting care and treatment of children with cancer through a partnership with a local pediatric cancer charity.

The event offers these distances:

• 2K Walk : approximately 1 mile, untimed, gravel and dirt trails.
• 5K Run/Walk : a 5K plus course, close to 4 miles on single track trails.
• 10K Trail Race : approximately 6.1 miles on single track trails.
• 5K Virtual Race : virtual option with local shirt pickup and no awards.

Courses use hand built single track trails at Meeks Mountain. Trails will be well marked and may be easy to moderate in difficulty; weather and terrain can affect footing. GPS readings may vary from official course distances; follow course markings on race day.

Packet pickup is located at the big red barn at the front of Hurricane City Park on race day; signs will direct participants to pickup and to the start area near the shelter in the bowl across the train tracks. Allow extra time to walk to the start/finish area. Bathrooms are available in the park and portable restrooms will be at the start/finish area. Water and sports drink aid stations will be on course and post-race refreshments will be provided. Safety and EMT support will be on call.

Registration opens August 10, 2026 and closes November 5, 2026. Fees are $35 for the 2K and 5K, $45 for the 10K. Registrants receive a shirt if they register by October 26, 2026. Virtual shirt orders must be picked up in Windfield, WV by November 20, 2026 and will not be mailed; virtual entrants are not eligible for awards.

Awards for the 5K and 10K are given for first through third place male and female in these age divisions: 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and up. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
