Event Overview
The Run for Thorncroft takes place at the Thorncroft Equestrian Center in Malvern, Pennsylvania. This community event utilizes the 70-acre farm property to host multi-distance activities on a variety of natural surfaces. The event serves as a fundraiser to support the farm and the care of the resident horses.
Course Information
The event offers two primary distances on cross-country terrain:
- 5K Trail Run or Walk (3.1 miles)
- One-Mile Move-As-You-Please (1 mile)
The 5K course is a timed event featuring uneven terrain consisting of grass, dirt, and rocky areas. Depending on weather conditions, participants may encounter mud or soggy ground. The route includes elevation changes and finishes with a passage over a rocky stream and a climb up a steep hill. Participants have the choice to navigate fixed cross-country obstacles such as logs and bank jumps near the finish line.
The One-Mile course is designed for participants of various abilities. It consists of a mix of pavement, gravel, grass, and dirt surfaces. The layout includes a low-grade grass hill during the first half of the route and a medium-grade hill at the conclusion.
