Event Overview
The 5k for 5p- is a running and walking event held at Dee’s Memorial Park in Pikeville, North Carolina. The primary purpose of the race is to promote awareness for Cri du Chat Syndrome, also known as 5p-. This condition is a rare genetic deletion disorder occurring when a portion of the short arm of chromosome 5 is missing. The event takes place during Cri du Chat Awareness Week, which surrounds the designated awareness day of May 5.

Registration and Awards
The registration fee includes a t-shirt for those who register by April 17th. Participants who register after this date are not guaranteed a shirt. The event recognizes competitive performance across several categories. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers.
