Event description

5k for 5p is a community run/walk held in Goldsboro to promote awareness for Cri du Chat Syndrome. The event features a 5k distance and is open to people of all ages, paces, and abilities. Strollers are encouraged on the course and dogs are permitted.

Cri du Chat Syndrome, also called 5p minus, is a rare genetic deletion disorder in which part of the short arm of chromosome 5 is missing. This can result in varying degrees of delayed development and low muscle tone, among other characteristics. May 5 is recognized as Cri du Chat Day and the surrounding week is Cri du Chat Awareness Week.

Registration carries a fee of $30. A T-shirt is included with registration but is not guaranteed for registrations after April 17. Results are provided by Run The East, LLC. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers and to the top three male and female finishers in each age group: 15 and under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over.
