5k Dokie Run
The 5k Dokie Run is an annual athletic event held in Wheeling, Illinois. The race takes place at Dam No. 1 Woods East, located at 621 W Dundee Rd. Participants follow a trail road course that moves through natural scenery within the woods.
The event offers two distinct distances for participants:
- 5 km (Run)
- 1 mile (Walk)
All participants receive an official race t-shirt and a special gift consisting of Madeca Cream. Those who complete the 5 km run are also awarded a finisher's medal. A pre-race pasta dinner is provided on the evening of Friday, May 8th, at the First Korean United Methodist Church for all registered participants. This gathering serves as an opportunity for participants to meet before the event.
The event features a cash prize pool of $1,000. Awards are presented to the top 15 male and top 15 female finishers in the 5 km run, with prizes ranging from $100 for first place to $5 for fifteenth place. After the completion of the distances, post-race fuel is provided, including water, sports drinks, and snacks.
Proceeds from the event are donated to KAN-WIN to support their mission and community activities. Packet pickup is available both the evening before the race at the church and on the morning of the event at the race site. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
