5K Bun Run, Kids' Half Mile Race, and 2 Mile Fitness Walk

The Bun Run events are part of the Kolacky Days festival in Montgomery. The foot race began in 1980 and was changed to a true 5K in 2013. The fitness walk was added in 1988 and became a 2 mile event in 1990. The 5K and the 2 Mile Fitness Walk start at Tri‑City United Public School at Montgomery Elementary & Middle School and the 5K finishes on 1st Street near the White Front Saloon. The Kids' Half Mile race takes place in historic downtown Montgomery at the intersection of 1st Street North and Boulevard Avenue NW/NE near the Center Stage Dance parking lot.

The Kids' Race is run in three waves by age groups: 10 to 12, 8 to 9, and 7 and under; boys and girls run together. Registration is offered by submitting the paper form and fee to the address on the form or through online registration. Fees listed by the organizer are: 5K pre registration $25, late or walk up $30; Kids' Race pre registration $15, late or walk up $20; 2 Mile Walk pre registration $20, late or walk up $25. Only pre registered participants are guaranteed a T shirt. The event awards 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals for all age groups and special prizes for top overall male and female finishers; awards may be picked up at the finish line area.
