5 Peaks Whitemud Park
Part of the 5 Peaks Northern Alberta Trail Running Series, Whitemud takes place in Whitemud Park in Edmonton's river valley. The course features hard pack sections, bridge crossings, fast singletrack and a downhill run to the finish. Many sections are technical and require agility to handle roots, rocks and sharp up and down hills. The Enduro course is a single loop of approximately 13.4 km and the Sport course is approximately 8.3 km. There are also kids races of 1 km and 3 km.
Sport and Enduro distances can be run or hiked. Trail routes and distances may be changed based on conditions up to the event day. The event operates as a cup free race; water and electrolyte drink are available at the start and finish and at one or more aid stations on course. Participants planning to be out for longer than an hour should carry a receptacle for drinking and transporting calories and electrolytes.
Individual event registration prices do not include swag or finisher medals; these items can be purchased when registering or on site while supplies last. Medals are awarded to the top three finishers in each gender and age category for each distance and to the top three overall. Washroom facilities are available at the start and finish area and parking is limited. Safety rules on course include no dogs, no headphones and no strollers; Nordic walking poles are allowed only in the non competitive hiking category.
