5 Peaks Trail Running at Kelso
The 5 Peaks Trail Running event takes place at the Kelso Conservation Area in Ontario. Normally recognized as the Glen Eden ski and snowboard hill in winter, the location features an extensive network of trails used for hiking and trail running during the spring, summer, and fall. The event is part of the Ontario Trail Running Series and utilizes the park's diverse terrain.
Participants can choose from several distance options:
- 1 km (Kid’s Race)
- 3 km (Kid’s Race)
- 6.9 km (Sport Run or Hike)
- 13.8 km (Enduro Run or Hike)
- 20.6 km (Grit Run)
The race is a cup-free event to support sustainability. Runners are required to carry their own hydration vessels to use at aid stations, where water and electrolyte drinks are provided. Washroom facilities are located at the start and finish areas, and spectators are encouraged to watch the race from these designated zones.
For safety reasons due to course technicality, dogs, headphones, strollers, and nordic walking poles are prohibited on the trails. Optional finisher medals made of sustainably sourced wood are available, and awards are presented to the top three finishers in various age and gender categories for each distance.
