Event overview
The race takes place in Devon’s river valley on a mix of single track and hard packed trails. The start and finish are at the Devon Lions Campground, where a pavilion hosts a warming camp fire before the race. The course begins with a climb to a ridge, descends through single track to a bluff overlooking the campground, and finishes with about 2 kilometres of hard packed trail along the river showcasing autumn colours.
Distances offered:
- Kid's Race 1 km
- Kid's Race 3 km
- Sport Run or Hike 8 km
- Enduro Run or Hike 16 km
- Grit Run 24 km
The sport distance completes the loop once, the enduro twice, and the grit runners three times. The Devon 3 km kids race climbs to the River Valley Alliance Trail then returns downhill to the finish. Restroom facilities are available at the start/finish area.
Operational and safety notes: there is no on-site parking, with continuous shuttle loops between John Maland High School and the start/finish area. The event is cup free; water and an electrolyte drink are available at the start/finish and at one or more aid stations on course. Participants planning to be out for longer than an hour should carry a receptacle for liquids and calories. The course prohibits dogs, headphones, strollers or baby joggers, and nordic walking poles. Finishers in Sport, Enduro, and Grit receive a finisher item, wooden finisher medals are available for purchase, and awards are presented on site to top finishers in each category.
