4Star 4-Mile Race
The 11th Annual 4Star 4-Mile Race is held in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood at Dean Savage Memorial Park. This event takes place in conjunction with the city's Annual Salute to Armed Services. The course follows an out-and-back loop that runs alongside the Detroit Veterans Day Parade, utilizing the same path and timing as the procession.
Participants follow a route that passes several local landmarks, including the location known as "The Corner," the Michigan Train Station, and the Mexicantown area before returning to the finish line. The event is designed to create a shared experience between the local community and military veterans. Attendees may see marching bands, Junior ROTC students, and World War II veterans along the course.
The event offers several categories for participation:
- 4-Mile Race
- 4-Mile Ruck
- 4-Mile Virtual Race
A specific registration category is available for active duty military and veterans. Those participating in the 4-Mile Ruck receive a commemorative ruck patch at the finish line. Participants in other categories have the option to add a shirt during registration or receive a discount by opting out of the shirt.
Awards are presented to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as top finishers in the Masters category (40 and up) and the Military/Veteran category. Recognition is also provided for winners in 10-year age groups. This is a charitable event, with proceeds supporting the annual Detroit Veterans Day Parade.
