48 Miles of HOPE 5k/10k/48 Miler/Relay/Fun Run
This community fundraiser in Winston Salem centers on a 0.55 mile crushed gravel loop at Kimberley Park, just outside downtown. The event offers multiple distances and formats held on the same loop. A runner will spend his birthday running his age in miles as part of the fundraising effort for HOPE of Winston Salem.
Distances and formats
- 5K - just under 6 laps of the 0.55 mile loop
- 10K - just over 11 laps of the 0.55 mile loop
- 1 Mile Fun Run - a short loop option
- 48 Mile Fun Run - the full 48 mile distance on the loop
- 48 Mile Relay - teams of up to six runners sharing the 48 miles
All proceeds benefit HOPE of Winston Salem and support efforts to reduce food insecurity in Forsyth County. The event includes awards and giveaways; medals are planned for top finishers in the 5K and 10K, and medals are also provided for relay team members. Food and snacks will be available on site, and a post-race gathering with food, drink, and giveaways is scheduled. The event is presented as a family-friendly occasion with prizes and community fellowship. Lap counts for the 5K and 10K are provided so participants can plan for the number of loop repetitions.
