Endurance Style Fun Run at Mounds State Park
4 Hours in the Woods is an endurance style event held at Mounds State Park in Anderson. This event is formatted as a timed run or walk where participants can complete as many miles as they choose during a four hour window. There are no minimum distance requirements; the primary objective is to return to the finish line before the countdown clock reaches zero.
The course features the natural trails available within the state park. While the event is primarily a trail run, it includes a 1 mile stretch of road for those who prefer to step off the dirt trails. The race operates on an open course, allowing participants to navigate the terrain individually or with friends.
This is a non-competitive event with no official scoring or tracking of results. Participants are responsible for keeping their own time and tracking their personal distance. A central clock is used to count down the four hours. The gathering point for both the start and finish is the Woodland Shelter, where the Anderson Road Runners provide various food items and drinks for fuel. Attendees are also welcome to bring their own refreshments or contribute to a potluck style selection. This event is free of charge through local sponsorship and follows a trail based format in a wooded setting. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
