The third annual 4 for the 4th event takes place on July 3, 2026 in Kinnakeet Shores, Avon on Hatteras Island. The event offers a community running and walking opportunity along neighborhood streets in Avon and includes a short youth dash.

Registration for the four mile event opens March 31, 2026 and closes June 1, 2026 with a registration fee of $40. Registration for the 1776 Dash opens March 31, 2026 and closes July 2, 2026 with a registration fee of $15. All registered participants receive an eco-friendly cup for use on course, an icy cold towel at the finish, a finisher's medal, a performance t-shirt, and a breakfast at the post race party.
Part of the event proceeds support local non-profit partners: Hatteras Island Meals, Hatteras Island CERT Team, and Chicamacomico Life Saving Station. The event notes support for an additional local beneficiary connected to the community.
The format includes a family friendly short dash for children and a separate four mile distance for adults and older youth.
