2K for 2-K : Fort Tryon Park
2K for 2-K is a free, family-friendly community event held at Fort Tryon Park in Upper Manhattan. The offering includes a 2K (2 kilometer) family run and walk for participants ages 2 and up, plus short kids dashes for children ages 2 to 11. All participants must be registered.
The event features a festival area with physical activities and games for families; registration is required only for the physical activities. Participants receive a lunch bag while supplies last. Volunteer opportunities are eligible for a plus one race credit; the event itself is not eligible for a plus nine race credit and will not be scored.
Course routing for the family run and walk follows Margaret Corbin Drive north, a slight right onto Fort Tryon Place, an underpass beneath Margaret Corbin Drive, then the internal lane to the finish. Number pickup and bag check are available on the day of the event at Race-Day Central on the west side of Margaret Corbin Drive, approximately 300 feet north of Margaret Corbin Circle. Bag check accepts only clear bags no larger than 17 inches by 20 inches by 7 inches. Strollers are permitted.
The event supports the citywide 2 K initiative to expand early care and learning for two year olds. Reasonable accommodations and guide or support runner requests may be made by registered athletes in advance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
