22 Too Many 5K Race
The 12th annual 22 Too Many 5K is a run/walk whose proceeds support grieving families of military members lost to suicide. The event serves as a living memorial and seeks to reduce stigma by increasing public knowledge and awareness of PTS. Organizers provide resources, support and comfort to the families affected and aim to reduce the reported average of 22 service members lost per day.
Participants receive a custom finisher medal, lapel pin and a special wristband. A 22 Too Many tech shirt is available for an additional fee. Registration fees are tiered: early registration is $30, rising to $35 after 4/10 and $40 after 5/18. The event is chip timed and offers age group awards across 15 categories, plus a free raffle. Water, Gatorade and popsicles will be provided.
The course is located at AZ Falls, 5802 E. Indian School Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85018. Overflow parking is available at the nearby Lutheran church north of the park off 56th Street. No packet pickup is necessary; check in takes place on race day.
A virtual challenge option allows participants who cannot attend in Arizona to choose their own distance, location and time. Virtual participants may run, walk, hike or bike, carry a soldier picture while participating, and earn the same medal, lapel pin and wristband. Pictures for carrying are provided and will be posted on social media so families can see their loved ones being remembered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
