1 Mile Festival - Portland
The 1 Mile Festival is a 1600 meter open time trial scheduled at the Wildcat Stadium at Gregory-Portland High School in Portland, TX on August 1, 2026. The competition is open to 7th graders and older, with no upper age limit.
The event is presented as a non-UIL time trial; it will not produce a team score and will not count as a meet. Participants are advised not to wear school issued uniforms. The event is student funded and participants are expected to provide their own transportation.
Entry information lists a registration amount for the 1 Mile entry and spectators are admitted free. On-site registration is available on the day of the event.
Racing format uses heats assigned by submitted times rather than by gender or grade. Heats are arranged with 8 to 16 runners each and the fastest times are placed in the final heat. Heats and race results will be posted.
Stadium turf rules note permitted items such as warming up, water bottles, and headsets or earpods. Prohibited items on the turf include Gatorade or other colored drinks, food, gum, and candy. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
