Stockholm Marathon
The Stockholm Marathon is a city race covering a distance of 42,195 meters. The course starts and finishes near the historic Stockholm Stadium, the site of the 1912 Olympic Games. Organized by the athletics clubs Hässelby SK and Spårvägens FK, the event is one of the largest marathons in Europe.
The route guides participants through several distinct areas of the Swedish capital. Runners pass through the districts of Vasastan, Kungsholmen, and Södermalm, as well as the nature areas of Djurgården. The course also traverses the historic center of Gamla Stan, passing landmarks such as the Royal Palace and the Stockholm City Hall.
Participants have access to several services before, during, and after the race:
- Pacing Services: Information points for dream times ranging from 3:00 to 5:45.
- Service Stations: Water, sport drinks, bananas, gels, coffee, and broth are provided at selected points along the course.
- Support: Medical personnel and first aid are available at the start, finish, and fluid stations. Transport vehicles are provided for those who cannot complete the race.
- Finisher Amenities: Participants receive a medal with a unique annual Stockholm motif, a finisher t-shirt, and access to recovery snacks and warm showers.
Registration is open to runners who turn 18 within the race year. The maximum time allowed for completion is 6 hours and 30 minutes, with specific cut-off times at checkpoints along the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
