About the race
The Stockholm Marathon is one of the larger marathon events in Europe, featuring a course of 42,195 meters. The route passes through Vasastan, alongside the water at Kungsholmen, and past the City Hall. Runners continue through the historic Old Town (Gamla Stan) near the Royal Palace, the green areas of Djurgården, and the district of Södermalm before finishing inside the 1912 Olympic Stadium.
The event is open to participants who are at least 18 years old. The course has a time limit of 6.5 hours, with specific checkpoints along the route that must be passed by designated times:
- 21.1 km at Strandvägen
- 27 km at Rosenlundsgatan
- 32 km at Scheelegatan
- 35.5 km at Vasagatan
Participants have access to approximately 20 service stations providing water and sports drinks. Additional energy such as bananas, gels, coffee, and bouillon is available at selected locations. Pacemakers are provided for target times ranging from 3:00 to 5:45 hours. Post-race services include a commemorative medal with a unique Stockholm motif, a finisher t-shirt, massage services, and access to showers. The event also hosts the Swedish Marathon Championships.
